The Chamonix Classic
The MBMB Chamonix Classic is a half-board holiday. There's a chalet girl (or guy) to cook and an experienced guide to show you the best mountain biking in the valley. We offer a continental breakfast and a tasty, filling three course evening meal, with wine. Lunch is up to you, but we do offer convenient packed lunches at reasonable prices.
The atmosphere of the holiday is very relaxed, we won't be knocking at your bedroom door at 7am to go riding. There's nothing relaxed about the riding though. It's the natural terrain that gets people coming back for more. The trails are cut by hand, but not with mountain bikers in mind. This makes the riding technical, varied and always challenging.
We try to mix the riding up a bit, we'll use the cablecars if they are there but here at MBMB we like to get you pedalling up some of those big hills. If you want to access the best of the best, you often have to rely on your legs to get you to the trail head. Avoiding the lift purpose built DH trails means we rarely see another mountain biker. If you want to be surrounded by other mountain bikers all riding down the same trail, then go to Morzine or Les Gets - or as an MBMB client once referred to Les Portes du Soleil - "The Brits abroad mountain bike theme park". Good one Oli.
Although we used to run the Chamonix Classic every week throughout the summer, we are only running a few weeks in the earlier and later weeks of the season. The main reason for this is that the powers that be have restricted mountain biking on certain trails during July and August.
The council in Chamonix are busy in the valley building a few downhill trails for bigger hitting bikes but we are not that interested in their efforts and prefer to ride the natural stuff. And it seems for every effort they put into the DH scene, they feel justified in restricting the XC scene.
